About

A comment on the mission statement:
The mission of the KAFP is to promote access to and excellence in health care for all Kansans through education and advocacy for family physicians and their patients.

Advocacy and education are the two key points in our mission statement and they are both very important to me.  Advocacy  means several things in this context: advocacy for patients, for the specialty of family physicians, and for individual family docs.  As a former teacher, I understand the importance of education.  Family physicians are life-long learners and so that's a good fit!

I'm still learning about both education and advocacy. KAFP is clearly an important instrument for what's best for family medicine in Kansas. I'll do my best to be an advocate and to plan and promote worthwhile educational opportunities.
